Barb has been a loyal volunteer at Hospice Muskoka for the last 10 years. She has served on the Board of Directors, been an active event planner and also helps with direct service as part of our Visiting Hospice and Grief and Bereavement programs. Barb is quietly supportive and extremely giving, not unlike a trusted life-long friend to the clients she walks with on their final journey. Barb is conscientious and a good listener for her grief clients.
Her passion has been the July Butterfly Release and she works feverishly behind the scene to create a seamless event. She is supportive and hard working. Every summer she hosts the Bettke Bash, a gathering of friends and neighbours in memory of her late husband where funds are raised and generously donated to Hospice Muskoka. Barb is always eager to help wherever we need her and if she finds information that would help the organization, she promptly forwards it to the right person to look into. She is sincere and methodical in her end of life approach. Her long term dedication to hospice is a valuable asset to all aspects in end of life care in Muskoka.
Barb’s has a love for travel and for over 33 years has been helping people to book and enjoy vacation time. Barb’s newest love is Carter’s Rescue for dogs. This is a Canadian charity about 4 years old in Muskoka that runs solely on donations and volunteers. Barb is a volunteer driver and often picks up dogs from the veterinary in Parry Sound. She has been known to go as far as Leamington, Ontario on a dog rescue mission. Barb is committed and caring; a real asset to Bracebridge and we at Hospice Muskoka are so fortunate to have her as part of our family.
